Primary ResponsibilitiesThe Graduate Assistantship in English is a position that allows students to work in tutoring, teaching, editing, and/or research, depending on programmatic needs. Students may receive training and give presentations at conferences related to these roles. They can work as tutors for the university’s online Writing Center, serve as editors for the university’s art and literature journal, The Sage, and teach freshman writing courses.
Graduate assistants may teach under the supervision of a faculty mentor after accumulating 18 SCHs in the field of English. Graduate assistants are also responsible for personal safety and the safety of others, must exercise caution and practice safe work habits at all times.
