Primary Responsibilities

Job Description

The adjunct instructor of journalism will serve as advisor to the student newspaper The Skyline in the course of teaching JOUR 3301, the Student Publications Workshop each spring and fall semester. The instructor will also teach JOUR 2311, Introduction to Journalism one time per year and a variety of other courses supportive of the minor. The course load will be two courses per semester.

The adjunct instructor of journalism is also responsible for hiring The Skyline’s staff of editors, writers, designers, and photographers with the assistance of the Languages & Literature administrative assistant. They oversee The Skyline’s publication schedule, the editing process, layout and design, and the publication format, all of which are ultimately managed the student staff. They will assist the department chair and the advisor to the Sage in formulating the annual budget for Student Publications, which is proposed by the chair to Student Life.

The Student Publications budget will support travel to the Convention of the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association with students.

The report also contains fire statistics for any fires occurring in an On-Campus Student Housing Facility during the three most recent calendar years.
