Salary & Benefits$2500 scholarship in two payments by Welch Foundation Department Grant.
Primary Responsibilities- Keep the safety rules of the chemistry laboratory.
- Participate in training on chemistry lab equipment operation.
- Synthesize and characterize new transition metal oxides or fluorides as new optical materials using hydrothermal autoclave, conventional solid‑state, powder XRD, IR, UV‑visible DRS, TGA & DSC, and EDX equipment.
- Determine structures of newly synthesized oxides or fluorides by single crystal diffractometry, and refine and visualize their structures.
- Students must be accepted on the Undergraduate Research Scholarship.
- Must have completed CHEM 1311 or CHEM 1312 (General Chemistry). These courses are required to conduct chemistry research projects.
- Undergraduate students majoring in natural or physical sciences.
- Maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA.
- Pursuing a career in chemistry research.
