Job Description
• Is the Security Watch Commander, with overall responsibility for security operations on their assigned shift.
• Provides support to the Director of Security.
• Fill in for the Director of Security, as needed.
• Responsible for scheduling personnel to adequately cover the Casino, Outlet Center, and Reservation.
• Responsible for the direction, coordination and evaluation of a shift. The duties include interviewing, making hiring recommendations, training subordinates, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, and rewarding and disciplining team members.
• Ensures that all applicable rules and regulations of the organization and reservation are firmly and fairly enforced.
• Reviews incident reports to ensure that it is appropriately prepared, and that policies and procedures are properly carried out.
• Prepares staff reports for management, makes recommendations for improvements, resolves problems, and documents incidents.
• Investigates complaints and recommends discipline and administers approved discipline in accordance with business and departmental policy.
• Resolves team member problems and complaints as needed.
• Responds to and manages critical incidents on the Reservation.
• Develop positive relationships with other leaders throughout the enterprise.
• Coordinates Security operations and planning for all special events where Security has been requested.
• Performs research and planning to assist in major projects or events.
• Attends intradepartmental meetings to coordinate projects and events with other departments as assigned.
• Performs the duties of a Security Officer, Corporal, or Sergeant, as needed.
• Responds to emergency alarms associated with fire, presence of unauthorized persons, and/or critical incidences. Calls the Communication Center, notifies proper authorities, secures, and controls all tribal assets, and permits authorized persons to enter property.
• Performs First Aid, CPR and AED as needed, if trained
• Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained.
• Adheres to all company and department policies, procedures, and standard operating guidelines.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Is responsible for the daily direction, coordination, and evaluation of subordinates as assigned. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, and training team members; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining team members; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice or related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
• Possess a valid driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
• Possess a valid Guard Card, Exposed Firearms Permit, Baton Permit, and Chemical Agent Permit. (Will require proof of application and payment of fees if Guard Card and Exposed Firearms Permit not in immediate possession.)
• Possess certification in First Aid, CPR, or AED (or obtains with 90 days of being hired).
• Must pass the Security Department’s assessment test.
• California Responsible Beverage Service Training required upon hire.
• Must be age 21 years of age or older.
• Management/leadership experience required.
• 5 or more years of military service, casino security, and/or law enforcement experience preferred.
• Must have the ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and professionally in the English language, including the ability to write reports that can be understood by the CEO, COO, General Manager, Tribal Council, legal staff, court officers, and law enforcement.
