Heavy Equipment Mechanic
The Aircraft Mechanic II maintains repairs and modifies aircraft structures and structural components of moderate difficulty, including airframe, engines, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
Principal Accountabilities- Apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and restore equipment condition and operation.
- Apply comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints and manufacturer’s manuals.
- Perform daily flight line and hangar maintenance on all assigned aircraft.
- Perform inspections, corrosion control, troubleshooting and fault isolation on aircraft systems.
- Furnish own hand tools to perform maintenance; necessary special tools and test equipment will be furnished by Customs.
- May occasionally lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks.
- May be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
- Prioritize workload schedules on assigned projects.
- Valid State driver’s license.
- Willingness to subject themselves to random drug tests.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance; US Citizenship required for clearance.
- High school graduate or equivalent from an accredited program.
- Valid FAA Mechanic License with Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) ratings.
- Competent and knowledgeable in the repair and maintenance of both fixed‑wing and rotary‑wing aircraft and aircraft systems to include airframes, structural, hydraulics, fuel and electrical systems, and aircraft engines.
- Competent in system troubleshooting, reading and interpretation of schematics, blueprints, technical manuals and FAA, company, and other directives.
- Reliable and demonstrates good judgment.
- Able to follow base, federal, and company procedures for handling and disposal of hazardous waste materials.
- Ability to meet required deadlines and maintain necessary workflow.
- Proficient in reading, writing, understanding, and communicating in the English language and following both verbal and written instruction.
- Ability to comprehend and interpret technical data.
- Travel to other sites may be required.
- Physically able to perform aircraft mechanic duties.
- Movement freely inside aircraft and meet aircraft specific specs for weight limit.
- Stand, squat, sit, walk, and work with arms overhead for extended periods.
- May be required to wear a respirator.
- Pull, push, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be required to work in areas with high noise hazards, requiring adequate ear protection.
