Production Packager

Production Packager – 2nd Shift – Alsip, IL

We are currently hiring for the 2nd Shift Production Packager in our Alsip, IL plant. These are direct hire opportunities with career growth potential and a competitive benefits package.

As a Production Packager, you will work the following:

• Second Shift – Monday thru Friday, 1:45 pm – 9:45 pm plus overtime (schedules are subject to change to meet customer and production demands).

We are seeking a dedicated and detail‑oriented Production Packager to join our team. This position is responsible for reviewing work orders, performing final quality checks, and packaging products according to order‑specific instructions. The role requires the ability to operate a sit‑down forklift and jib crane to ensure the safe and efficient completion of packaging tasks.

• Review the production schedule and work orders to determine the next jobs to be processed on the banding line and understand the specific requirements for each job.
• Identify and report any inaccuracies or issues in the schedule or work order to management.
• Communicate job requirements to other packaging team members when items arrive at the banding line.
• Check incoming coils for observable defects and ensure compliance with customer requirements. Report any deficiencies to the department head or team leader.
• Interrupt operation when defects are discovered and obtain approval from management to proceed with corrections.
• Coordinate banding and packaging activities to maintain workflow and minimize bottlenecks.
• Operate various equipment, including the downlayer, automatic bander, sit‑down forklift, and jib crane, as necessary.
• Prepare pallets according to customer packaging specifications, ensuring correct banding and proper placement of coils and wooden separators.
• Ensure a safe operating environment by observing team members and equipment. Report any safety issues and assist in addressing unsafe conditions.
• Maintain good housekeeping practices in the work area.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and meet shipping deadlines.
• Assist in the training of new personnel when necessary and take leadership responsibilities to ensure safety and good housekeeping practices.

• Ability to operate a sit‑down forklift and jib crane.
• Knowledge of packaging materials and techniques, including proper palletizing and banding methods.
• Attention to detail to identify defects and ensure compliance with customer specifications.
• Strong communication skills for coordinating with team members and reporting issues.
• Safety‑conscious with the ability to recognize and address potential hazards.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks to maintain production flow.

• Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and move heavy items up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to operate machinery and equipment in a safe and efficient manner.
