Location:

Forest View, IL | Salary: $28,000 – $32,000 per year |

Shift: 2nd Shift (1:45 pm – 9:45 pm) |

Job Overview

A skilled and dedicated Maintenance Technician with a strong electrical background is needed to join a dynamic metal manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include repair, maintenance, and troubleshooting of processing equipment such as forklifts, company trucks, and manufacturing machinery. The role ensures equipment operates efficiently, minimizes downtime, and maintains a safe and organized work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Preventive Maintenance:
    Perform and follow preventive maintenance procedures on electrical and mechanical systems in manufacturing equipment.
  • Routine Inspections:
    Conduct regular inspections of equipment, identifying potential issues, and reporting findings to the Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Troubleshooting & Repairs:
    Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical problems in processing equipment; perform necessary repairs or disassemble/reassemble machinery to resolve issues.
  • Technical Problem‑Solving:
    Assist in identifying and solving technical problems related to electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Inventory Management:
    Monitor parts and supplies inventory for maintenance needs and report deficiencies to the Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager.
  • Training & Development:
    Participate in training sessions to upgrade technical skills, focusing on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Safety Compliance:
    Adhere to safety rules and work instructions, ensuring a safe work environment during repairs and maintenance.
  • Clean Work Area:
    Maintain cleanliness of work areas, especially after completing repairs or maintenance activities.
  • Assist Staff:
    Provide support to other maintenance staff as required to ensure smooth operation of the facility and timely completion of repairs.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist in the training of new maintenance staff or others in the department.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the safe and efficient operation of the facility.
  • Ensure the safe operation of equipment and the general cleanliness of the maintenance area.
  • Actively contribute to maintaining the company’s reputation for quality by performing duties accurately and efficiently.
Job‑Related Technical Skills
  • Electrical Systems Knowledge:
    Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems in equipment, including motor control circuits, PLCs, and other electrical components.
  • Mechanical Systems Knowledge:
    Repair and maintain mechanical systems, including motors, hydraulics, and pneumatic components.
  • Blueprint Interpretation:
    Read and understand machine blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical manuals for troubleshooting and repair.
  • Precision Measurement:
    Use tools such as tape measures, micrometers, and bar micrometers to ensure accurate repairs and adjustments.
  • Equipment Operation:
    Operate forklifts, jib cranes, and other equipment used in manufacturing processes.
  • Safety Standards:
    Knowledge of industrial safety procedures and practices, particularly in electrical maintenance.
  • Troubleshooting

    Skills:

    Identify mechanical and electrical issues and take prompt corrective action.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a Maintenance Technician with electrical experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with various types of industrial machinery, including processing equipment and heavy‑duty machines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team to resolve issues efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to coordinate with other team members and departments.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and weekends, as needed.
