Simco Mechanical Inc., a growing full-service mechanical contracting firm, is seeking an experienced Estimator with a strong background in construction/HVAC, and project management. This position is on‑site in Altadena, CA.
Job OverviewWe are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Estimator to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction estimating and project management, with a proven ability to oversee the estimation process from inception to completion. This role requires excellent negotiation skills, a deep understanding of cost control, and the ability to manage contracts effectively. The Estimator will play a critical role in ensuring that our projects are accurately estimated and that we remain competitive in the marketplace.
Projects will range from $100K to $6.0M depending on current backlog.
- Lead and manage all estimating, providing guidance and support throughout the estimation process.
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to gather necessary information for accurate pricing.
- Conduct thorough reviews of project plans, specifications, and contracts to identify potential risks and opportunities.
- Implement cost control measures to ensure projects remain within budget while maintaining quality standards.
- Negotiate pricing with subcontractors and suppliers to secure favorable terms for the company.
- Monitor market trends and adjust estimates accordingly to maintain competitiveness in pricing strategies.
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes and site experience.
- Proficiency in estimation software such as Bluebeam and Heavy Bid is highly desirable.
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to build relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy in pricing.
- Knowledge of contracts, cost control practices, and project management principles is essential.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while also being self‑motivated.
