Registered Dental Hygienist - Future Lead Hygienist
A-Team Dental Staffing has partnered with an established, innovative private dental practice in Altadena, California, to recruit an experienced Registered Dental Hygienist for a full-time, direct-hire opportunity with the potential to advance into a Lead Hygienist position.
This modern, detail-oriented practice is looking for more than someone who simply performs cleanings. The ideal candidate is passionate about identifying and controlling periodontal disease, educating patients, and improving oral and whole-body health.
The practice is prepared to invest significantly in the right hygienist through advanced continuing education, including potential training at the Kois Center in Seattle. This individual will have the opportunity to help strengthen the periodontal program, mentor other hygienists, and eventually transition into a production-based leadership role.
Compensation and Growth
- $65 per hour
- Bonus opportunities
- 90-day performance review
- Potential increase to $70 or more per hour based on performance

Office Schedule
- Monday: 9:00 a.m.
-5:30 p.m. - Tuesday: 9:00 a.m.
-5:30 p.m. - Wednesday: 9:30 a.m.
-6:00 p.m., administrative and specialist day - Thursday: 7:00 a.m.
-3:30 p.m. - Friday: 7:00 a.m.
-3:30 p.m. - Saturday: 7:00 a.m.
-3:30 p.m., once per month - Team members arrive approximately 10 minutes before the first patient

Periodontal Program
- Scaling and root planing
- Laser-assisted periodontal therapy
- Irrigation with periodontal treatment
- Arestin placement
- Adult fluoride treatment
- Customized three-, four-, and six-month recall intervals
- Conservative and aggressive periodontal referral protocols
- Emphasis on early detection and periodontal disease management
Responsibilities
- Perform adult and pediatric prophylaxis, periodontal maintenance, and scaling and root planing
- Complete accurate periodontal charting and clinical documentation
- Identify periodontal disease during its earliest stages
- Educate patients about the oral-systemic connection
- Develop individualized periodontal treatment and maintenance recommendations
- Use evidence-based periodontal protocols to improve patient outcomes
- Administer local anesthesia within the hygienist’s licensed scope
- Perform laser-assisted periodontal therapy when appropriately certified
- Place Arestin and provide fluoride treatment
- Take diagnostic-quality digital radiographs
- Collaborate with dentists and specialists to manage periodontal conditions
- Present periodontal treatment recommendations clearly and confidently
- Monitor patient progress and adjust maintenance intervals when necessary
- Build trust through exceptional communication and chairside care
- Support case acceptance and long-term patient retention
- Help establish consistent hygiene protocols
- Eventually mentor and train other members of the hygiene team
- Active California Registered Dental Hygienist license
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Local anesthesia certification
- Laser certification preferred
- Excellent periodontal assessment and clinical skills
- Exceptional chairside manner
- Strong patient-education and communication skills
- Passion for periodontal medicine and whole-body wellness
- Comfortable discussing and presenting necessary periodontal treatment
- Leadership potential and an interest in developing a high-performing hygiene department
- Willingness to participate in advanced training and continuing education
