Heartland Baptist Church exists to glorify God by worshiping Him, edifying the saints, and making disciples of Jesus Christ among our neighbors and the nations. We are a gospel-centered church that seeks to love God, love one another, and love our community through Christ-exalting worship, biblical teaching, and intentional discipleship.

The Pastor of Worship & Families will serve as a vital member of the pastoral team, overseeing the worship ministry of the church and giving leadership to family discipleship, particularly among children, students, and parents. He will help lead the church to grow in Christ-centered worship and equip families to be faithful disciple-makers in their homes.

• Provide leadership, vision, and oversight for all aspects of worship ministry.
• Plan and lead Christ-centered, biblically faithful, and musically excellent corporate worship gatherings.
• Shepherd, recruit, and equip worship team members (musicians, vocalists, audio/visual team).
• Collaborate with the Senior Pastor in planning worship services that align with the preaching of the Word and practice of the ordinances.

• Oversee children’s and student ministries by providing direction, support, and training for volunteers. We have gifted volunteers serving as ministry directors in preschool, children, and student ministries.
• Equip parents to be the primary disciple-makers of their children.
• Develop and implement a strategy for discipling children and students toward mature faith in Christ.
• Coordinate events, programs, and resources that foster gospel growth in families.

• Preach and teach as needed.
• Provide pastoral care to families and individuals.
• Assist in carrying out the overall mission (“make disciples”) and vision (“Gather. Grow. Go.) of the church.
• Participate actively in staff meetings, strategic planning, and church leadership.

• A clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and a life of growing maturity that meets the requirements of a pastor/elder/overseer in 1 Timothy 3:1-7.
• Ordained to pastoral ministry, or readiness to pursue ordination.
• Agreement with the Baptist Faith & Message 2000.
• A heart for Christ-centered worship and discipleship of families.
• Strong musical gifting and ability to lead vocally and instrumentally (guitar or piano preferred).
• Experience in leading worship and/or family ministries is desirable.
• Ability to shepherd and equip others for ministry, not simply do ministry alone.
• Bachelor’s degree required; seminary degree preferred (or willingness to pursue theological training).
