Description
Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine is seeking applications for a full‑time tenure‑track position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level in the Department of Biomedical and Craniofacial Sciences. This position is in behavioral sciences as it pertains to clinical dentistry. The role includes didactic instruction and support of clinical training and assessment in applying the principles of behavioral sciences to patient care, including interpersonal skills and behavioral/psychological approaches to managing dental patients, communication skills, anxiety and pain control, and more.
Responsibilities encompass teaching the pre‑doctoral and post‑doctoral programs, conducting independent research, and serving the University. Collaboration with other faculty in research and teaching is encouraged.

- Associate Professor $95,000 – $105,000

- Assistant Professor / Clinical Assistant Professor $120,000 – $130,000
- Associate Professor / Clinical Associate Professor $130,000 – $140,000

Qualifications- Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a behavioral science field such as psychology, psychiatry, communication studies, or social work, with expertise in behavioral health or health sciences education.
- Experience integrating behavioral health principles into patient care is desirable.
- Alternatively, a D.M.D., D.D.S. or equivalent degree with strong foundational training and interest in behavioral sciences; applicants must be licensed to practice dentistry in Illinois or able to meet Illinois licensure requirements.
- Previous teaching experience and/or a record of research accomplishments through publication and external funding is desirable.
- Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
