Position Overview
The Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine is seeking applications for a full‑time tenure‑track position at the Assistant/Associate/Full Professor level in the Department of Biomedical and Craniofacial Sciences. The role focuses on behavioral sciences as they pertain to clinical dentistry, including didactic instruction and support of clinical training and assessment in applying fundamental principles of behavioral sciences to patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Teach in the pre‑doctoral and post‑doctoral programs.
- Conduct independent research and contribute service to the University.
- Collaborate with faculty in both research and teaching.
Biomedical Faculty
Assistant Professor $85,000 – $95,000
Associate Professor $95,000 – $105,000
Professor $105,000 – $115,000
Clinical Dentistry Faculty
Assistant/Clinical Assistant Professor $120,000 – $130,000
Associate/Clinical Associate Professor $130,000 – $140,000
Professor/Clinical Professor $140,000 – $150,000

Qualifications- A Ph.D. or equivalent in behavioral science (psychology, psychiatry, communication studies, social work) with expertise in behavioral health or health sciences education.
- Experience integrating behavioral health principles into patient care, or a D.M.D., D.D.S., or equivalent degree with strong training and interest in behavioral sciences (licensed to practice dentistry in Illinois or able to meet licensure requirements).
- Previous teaching experience and a record of research accomplishments through publication and external funding.
- Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
