Position: SUBSTITUTE TEACHER

SUMMARY

The Alton School District is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to serve as a Substitute Teacher at the Admin Center. This role is essential in maintaining a consistent and productive learning environment for students in the absence of regular classroom teachers. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt quickly to various classroom settings, implement lesson plans, and manage student behavior effectively.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Deliver instructional lessons as outlined in the teacher's lesson plans.
  • Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment conducive to learning.
  • Manage classroom behavior and ensure student engagement.
  • Provide support to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Communicate effectively with students, staff, and parents regarding student progress and classroom activities.
  • Follow school policies and procedures, including attendance and reporting.
  • Assist in the preparation of classroom materials and resources as needed.
  • Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities when possible.
  • Uphold the values and mission of the Alton School District.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in education or a related field is preferred.
  • Valid Illinois teaching license or substitute teaching license.
  • Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to adapt to various classroom environments and student needs.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Ability to follow directions and implement lesson plans effectively.
