We are seeking a Production Technician to maintain and ensure the reliable operation of water treatment facilities, tank sites, and booster stations. Responsibilities include work on pumps, chemical feed systems, and controls. The successful candidate will have knowledge of electrical, mechanical and water treatment facilities and the operation of heavy equipment including a forklift.
Primary RoleThe Production Technician is responsible for tasks necessary to maintain and ensure reliable operation of water treatment facilities, tank sites, and booster stations. This includes work on pumps, chemical feed systems, and controls. The role requires knowledge of electrical, mechanical and water treatment facilities and experience with heavy equipment including a forklift, and other duties as assigned by management.
Key Accountabilities- Strong knowledge of safety and operations policies and procedures.
- Administrative duties in written and oral formats; effective communication with management on daily operations of water treatment facilities.
- Routine water quality lab sampling, regulating flow, maintaining required pressure, and ensuring IEPA requirements are met.
- Contribute to development and maintenance of SOPs.
- Support planning and execution of capital work.
- Perform routine and special maintenance of tanks, pumps and pumping equipment.
- Utilize systems of records (e.g., Map Call, Waterly, Ignition) as required. Conduct routine maintenance tasks, water sampling and facility inspections.
- Strong work ethic, time management, written and oral communication, organizational and team leadership skills.
- Independent decision making and accountability; ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of the general principles of operation of production systems.
- Ability to perform other work necessary for reliable water service and efficient operation and maintenance of facilities.
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs.
- Valid driver's license
- Required to obtain and maintain an Illinois IEPA Water Treatment Class A license based on union contract.
- Ability to obtain an Illinois IEPA Water Treatment A license within 4 years of hire or effective date of CBA.
- High school diploma or equivalent/GED
- Experience in the water or wastewater industry preferred.
