Job Overview

Registered Nurse (RN) – Intermediate Care Unit (Weekend Option, Day Shift) at Alton Memorial Hospital, part of BJC Health Care. The position is open to new graduates and experienced nurses, offering a stable weekend schedule, comprehensive benefits, and opportunities for growth.

• Open to ADN, BSN, and MSN candidates
• Day shift schedule: (3) 12‑hour shifts on Friday, Saturday & Sunday 7:00 am – 7:00 PM
• Up to a $15,000 sign‑on bonus for eligible external candidates

• Provide direct patient care activities including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation within the nursing care standards.
• Promote patient and family centered care in a healing environment.
• Educate patients and their families on managing their illness or injury, including post‑treatment home care needs and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality and regulatory compliance; engage in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individual plans of care with defined goals collaboratively with the interprofessional team, patient, family or caregiver, in accordance with established guidelines and standards.
• Proactively plan and ensure communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
• Assess patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population‑specific needs.
• Maintain constant state of alertness and work in a safe manner as a safety‑sensitive position.

• Education:
  
  Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing (no prior experience required).
