Overview

Alton Memorial Hospital has cared for residents in Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding five‑county area since 1937. It is a full‑service acute care hospital offering inpatient and outpatient services, including surgery, medical imaging, interventional and diagnostic heart services, cancer care, rehabilitation, 24‑hour emergency care, ambulance services, and more. The Emergency Department (ED) provides care to patients of all ages, from neonates to geriatrics, with acuities ranging from minor illness or injury to cardiopulmonary arrest.

Patient triage is based on a five‑tier system that prioritizes severity of illness rather than first‑come, first‑served. Alton Memorial also operates the only hospital‑based ambulance service in the region it serves.

Provides direct patient care activities, including assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation, within the standards of nursing care.

• Promote patient- and family-centered care in a healing environment, educating patients and families on illness management, post‑treatment home care, and medication administration.
• Participate in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance, and engage in professional development.
• Develop, implement, and document individualized care plans with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team and the patient or caregiver, ensuring clear communication across the continuum of care.
• Use critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs, addressing patient preferences, barriers to care, and cultural considerations.
• Maintain constant alertness and work safely in a safety-sensitive position.

• Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree

• No prior experience required

• No supervisor experience required

• Valid RN license

• Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
