Overview

The Loss Prevention Agent is responsible for performing investigations concerning suspected fraud or actual violations of civil, administrative, and/or criminal laws, rules, regulations, or other legal requirements.

Responsibilities
  • Performs a wide variety of investigative work, including collecting evidence, conducting interviews, and following up on leads.
  • Examines the scene of crime to determine the exact nature of violations.
  • Searches for clues and conducts preliminary interrogations of suspects.
  • Gathers and labels evidence found at the scene.
  • Interviews complainants, suspects, witnesses, and other persons who may provide information related to crimes or suspected criminal activity.
  • Maintains communications with informers and monitors surveillance of suspected law violators.
  • Maintains investigative files and ensures that recordkeeping remains confidential.
  • Attends court proceedings and presents evidence and testimony as needed.
  • Assembles and organizes statements and evidence for presentation to park leadership, Human Resources, or Law Enforcement agencies.
  • Researches, collects, analyzes, and integrates information to prepare criminal incident reports, data, and digital intelligence reports.
  • Works with law enforcement and legal officials to present analytical information in legal proceedings such as depositions and courtroom testimony.
  • Identifies crime patterns and trends using computer databases and information from internal and external sources, including external agencies, media, social media, and crime bulletins.
  • Utilizes a variety of databases and software applications to compile statistical and criminal data for draft responses, criminal statistical analysis reports, and oral and written presentations.
  • All other duties as assigned by leadership.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in loss prevention, security, or law enforcement.
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications desired.
  • John

    E. Reid or Wicklander certification preferred.
  • Fluent in English;
    Spanish or other bilingual language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and third (overnight) shift.
  • Must possess reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license with a clean record.
  • Must be able to operate motorized vehicles and equipment safely.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to deal fairly, objectively, and courteously with the public regardless of race, ethnicity, religion, or political beliefs.
  • Must know investigative methods, interviewing, listening, note‑taking techniques, and de‑escalation tactics.
  • Must be proficient in operating electronic equipment such as cameras, dispatch radios, and computers.
  • Must keep detailed, accurate records and maintain confidentiality of sensitive data.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, walk, and remain on feet for the majority of the workday.
  • Occasional stooping, twisting, kneeling, bending, squatting, or reaching above shoulders.
  • Ability to walk, stand, or run on uphill, downhill, or uneven surfaces.
  • Ability to remain sedentary for extended periods while using a computer or camera equipment.
  • Ability to carry, push, pull, lift, and hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.
  • Good visual acuity, night vision, and peripheral vision.
  • Ability to see details of objects that are more than a few feet away.
  • Clear hearing of a variety of conversational voice tones and pitches.
Working Conditions
  • Based in both an office setting and frequent exposure to indoor and outdoor park environments.
  • Variable outdoor temperatures: high heat, cold, direct sun, humidity, dust, rain, snow, and ice.
  • Subject to dark environments during overnight shifts.
  • Subject to constant repetitive motion, high noise levels, flashing lights, and heavily populated environments.
  • Frequent interruptions requiring reprioritization of activities.
