The Security and Communications Dispatcher operates the park’s communication system, responds to emergency and administrative calls, and dispatches public safety personnel and equipment.

• Operate a radio console and paging system, receive and transmit radio messages, and broadcast pertinent information.
• Operate telephone console, relay messages, direct requests for security, law enforcement, and EMS assistance, prioritize calls, and dispatch personnel in the correct order.
• Maintain a complete log of telephone and radio calls via a computerized dispatching system.
• Input data into the system and generate required reports.
• Perform emergency communication equipment tests.
• Retrieve online and paper file information and relay to appropriate destinations.
• Handle public inquiries and direct them to appropriate sources.
• Complete administrative duties using PC, Windows, e‑mail, fax, word processing, copiers, time clocks, shredders, and databases.
• Follow standard operating procedures for the park and for Parques Reunidos/Palace Entertainment.
• Assist with development of incident reports for emergencies.
• Contact local law enforcement when necessary and report on security incidents, threats, and surveillance.
• Review security records, report trends, anomalies, and concerns.
• Maintain professional communications with emergency responders during incidents.

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
• 1+ year of dispatcher experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English. Spanish or other bilingual skills are a plus.
• Must be at least 16 years of age to comply with Iowa Child Labor Laws.

• Work flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Reliable transportation to and from shift location.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
• Effective and accurate communication with external first responders and personnel.
• Operate electronic equipment such as cameras, two‑way radios, walkie‑talkies, and PCs.
• Excellent observation, interviewing, listening, and note‑taking skills.
• Safeguard confidential park information.
• Understand state and local laws related to civil and criminal procedures.
• Remain alert and vigilant at all times.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Outlook).
• Strong interpersonal skills for handling tense situations calmly and professionally.
• Read and comprehend fine print on documents and screens.
• Follow verbal and written instructions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail for data entry, reporting, and communication.

• Remain seated for extended periods while using a computer, cameras, or communication equipment.
• Occasionally stand, walk long distances, stoop, twist, kneel, bend, squat, or reach above shoulders.
• Carry, push, pull, lift, or hold objects weighing 30 pounds or more.
• See details of objects a few feet away.

The role is primarily office‑based with exposure to indoor and outdoor park environments. It is fast‑paced, with shifting priorities and frequent interruptions. Repetitive motion is common, and interruptions may require reprioritization of activities.
