What you'll do
  • Collaborate with product managers and marketing teams to understand customer requirements and translate them into product specifications.
  • Design and develop product concepts using CAD software, ensuring functionality, manufacturability, and aesthetic appeal.
  • Create detailed engineering drawings and specifications for manufacturing processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards.
  • Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis to evaluate the viability of new product designs.
  • Prototype new products and conduct rigorous testing to validate design performance and durability.
  • Work closely with manufacturing teams to address any design-related issues during production and implement necessary modifications.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers to enhance product quality and innovation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies to incorporate best practices into product design.
  • Document design processes and maintain accurate records to facilitate future reference and compliance audits.
  • Assist in the development of user manuals and technical documentation for new products.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to source materials and components that meet design specifications and quality standards.
  • Support marketing efforts by providing technical insights and participating in product launches and promotional activities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in product design or development, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD software such as Solid Works, AutoCAD, or similar tools for 3D modeling and design.
  • Strong understanding of materials and manufacturing processes, including injection molding, machining, and assembly techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail and a passion for innovation.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey complex technical information clearly.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Familiarity with product lifecycle management (PLM) systems and design for manufacturability (DFM) principles.
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to product safety and quality.
Nice to have
  • Experience with user-centered design principles and methodologies.
  • Familiarity with rapid prototyping techniques such as 3D printing.
  • Previous experience in the consumer goods or outdoor products industry.
  • Understanding of sustainability practices in product design and development.
  • Certification in Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
