Position Overview

Location:

University of Pittsburgh Physicians, Anesthesiology Department, UPMC Altoona.
Position:
Full‑Time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA), Non‑Exempt Hourly Rates.

• Administer anesthesia and related care, including pre‑anesthetic preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post‑anesthesia care, and peri‑anesthesia support.
• Assume responsibility and accountability for controlled substances in accordance with department and hospital policy, and State and federal guidelines.
• Assist with teaching and evaluation of newly hired CRNAs, GRNAs, and SRNAs.
• Perform according to established policies, procedures, and regulatory standards. Review appropriate documentation for informed consent and identify appropriate surgical site with operating room staff and surgeon in accordance with departmental and regulatory compliance standards.
• Participate in the Quality Improvement (QI) process through documentation, incident reporting, evaluation, education, and implementation.
• Graduate of an accredited nurse anesthesia education program (required).
• Be knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and State laws (required).

• Knowledgeable regarding controlled substance policies in accordance with Federal and State laws (required).
• Experience with a wide variety of operating rooms and procedures, including structural heart, critical care, emergency, GI/endo suites, OB, EP, bronchoscopy, catheterization labs, interventional radiology, neurointerventional labs, MRI/CT, and a six‑room surgery center (preferred).

• Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania (required).
• Board Certified, Recertified, or eligible by the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists (required).
• CPR required within 30 days of hire (didactic and skills demonstration).
• AHA‑approved ACLS/PALS certifications as required by institution upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA).
• Registered Nurse (RN).
• Act 33 with renewal.
• Act 34 with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
