JOB DESCRIPTION FOR BIRTH TO FIVE SCHOOL SUPERVISOR/EHS TEACHER

Pay Rate:
Pay levels are as follows:

  • Level 1: $17.50 hrly – Certificate of Mastery or CDA working on Associate Degree and can obtain OK School Director Certificate
  • Level 2: $18.72 hrly – Associate Degree in Early Childhood and can obtain OK School Director Certificate
  • Level 3: $21.35 hrly – Has a Bachelor Degree that meets Head Start Performance Standards w/hours equivalent to Early Childhood Associate and can obtain OK School Director Certificate
  • Level 4: $29.77 hrly – Has a Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood with an Oklahoma Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood or PK-3 and can obtain OK School Director Certificate
Purpose

The purpose of the School Supervisor/EHS Teacher is to manage the daily operations of the school, including meal services, and to provide classroom instruction for the Early Head Start children.

Principal

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responsible for the training, monitoring, supervision, and evaluation of staff on an ongoing basis. Verifies time and attendance reports on EWS. Approves staff leave requests, conducts formal evaluations of staff, and initiates disciplinary procedures according to SOCAG personnel policies. Conducts staff meetings on a regular basis, preferred once a week.
  • In cooperation with the Education Manager, develops daily lesson plans according to performance standards and agency policies. Implements lesson plans in the classroom. Designs classroom activities to help children accomplish program outcomes and achieve school readiness. Implements early literacy techniques in the classroom lesson plans. Ensure curriculum is used in all classrooms.
  • Uses ROMA (Results Oriented Management and Accountability) principles to establish, monitor, review, and revise performance goals related to job position. Is outcome-focused.
  • Responsible for disciplinary procedures of children in accordance with agency policies ensuring that the school is a safe, inviting place for all children and families.
  • Works directly in the classroom to educate children and to provide comprehensive child development services. Eats family-style meals with the children to aid in the development of social skills.
  • Recruits volunteers to the school, concentrating on parents. Solicits donations from the community. Responsible for helping the program achieve the in‑kind match requirement and ensuring that match is documented correctly and reported monthly.
  • Schedules staff to serve as a bus monitor on transportation routes. Serves as the bus monitor when needed.
  • Works as part of a team to accomplish daily cleaning with bleach and sanitization of school including floors, tables, laundry, and toys as required by licensing standards.
  • Performs, monitors, and evaluates medical/dental screenings, mental health screenings (including observation notes), administers assessments, and assists with IFSP/IEP development of school enrollees. Updates and maintains children’s folders. Completes required paperwork and reports, including computer data entry. Ensures all staff are doing their share of the work required.
  • Mobilizes parent interest and recruits volunteers to participate in school activities. Designs and implements parent school committee meetings. Promotes Policy Council attendance. Works closely with Services Advocate to ensure Family Partnership Agreements are completed and that families receive appropriate assistance.
  • Monitors the food service program. Checks cook’s menu planning book and grocery receipts weekly.
  • Other related duties as assigned.

  • Confidentiality is essential. Reminds staff of confidentiality with all family information.
  • Ensure children’s safety by enforcing safety rules and procedures. Follows other safety rules such as wearing closed‑toe shoes (no sandals), bus safety rules and various other program procedures. Ensures school meets licensing standards and maintains standards.
