Purposeof Position
The Simulator Maintenance Technician II is responsible for analyzing malfunctions and performing repair, calibration, inspection, overhaul, modification, re-programming, maintenance support and operation of simulators, trainers, computers and digital image visual systems.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Perform all inspections of trainers.

ATS Aircrew Training Devices (ATD) and related equipment. - Operate ATDs at all aircrew/instructor positions to evaluate operation of all systems.
- Analyze/repair discrepancies noted during preflight or reported by instructors/aircrew.
- Visually inspect complete simulatordevice(computer and peripheral) for loose connections, leaks,and defective components.
- Accomplish preventive maintenance functions on a continuous basis and replace defective components,as required.
- Perform overhaul of components,as necessary.
- Coordinate maintenance activities to achieve maximumutilizationof trainers.
- Trouble-shoot malfunctions and isolate defective systems.
- Repair, replace, calibrate, adjust,andmodifytrainer/computer components.
- Bench-checkunserviceable units anddetermineneed for adjustment or disassembly.
- Disassemble trainer assemblies,detect faulty parts,and replacefaulty partswith new or locally manufactured parts,and thenreinstall required equipment.
- Install redesigned oradditionalcomponents, reroute existing wires or add new wiring circuits, make program changes,and load program into the computers.

Duties and Responsibilities: - Perform trouble analysis and final alignment of multisystem complexes consisting of several complete integrated systems.
- Accomplish functional systems tests, interpreting and applying a broad range of technical data.
- Evaluate operational characteristics of the integrated systems.
- Suggest changes to improve operation through equipment failure and malfunctions analysis.
- Complete andmaintainprescribed records and maintenance forms.
- Train/assist other technicians with lesser training device experience and skill.
- Recommend design changes,program changes,or modifications in circuitry or hardware to improve simulation or overall operation.
- Travel,as required.
- Perform other duties,as assigned.
High School diploma or equivalent and completion of a civilian or military basicelectronicsprogram are required.
BSEE or BSME degree is highly desired.
Experience:
- Three to fiveyears experience as aFlight Simulator Technician or equivalent is desired, with a demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex non-routine problems.
- Experience should includecomponentlevel test and repair of microprocessor-controlled equipment.
- Experience should includecomponentlevel test and repair of microprocessor-controlled equipment and working knowledge of UNIX and FORTRAN languages.

- Possess andmaintainextensive practical knowledge of the theories and practices of electronic circuits, computer theory, hydraulic or pneumatic control and power systems, and many other areas covering a wide range of system applications.
