Position: FIREFIGHTER (HAZARDOUS MATERIALS OPERATIONS) with Security Clearance
Duties
* Performs hazard and risk assessment techniques in completing initial incident analysis.
* Performs crash-rescue and firefighting duties involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are such that the expectancy for fire is high and potential for becoming destructive is great.
* Performs structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities, which may include large multistoried buildings, industrial areas, and/or base storage facilities.
* Performs rescue of personnel and a variety of first aid measures.
* Maintains firefighting equipment and fire station facilities;
Complies with health, safety, and environmental rules and procedures and performs work in a manner that enhances the safety of the work environment. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Employee must participate in a mandatory physical fitness program.
* Employee is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
* The employee is required to work a 72-hour week on a 24 hour on/24 hour off basis which includes weekends and holidays. May be subject to recall.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing. (Cont'd) * (Cont'd) Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.

* This position requires the employee to work under adverse environmental conditions and falls under the respiratory protection program and hearing conservation program.
* The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required.
* Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth.
* Will be required to work the Fire Alarm and Communications Center (FACC). Incumbent will have one year from date of hire to receive Telecommunicator I certification and two years to receive Telecommunicator 11 certification. (Cont'd) * (Cont'd) Will be subject to work rotation coverage at multiple fire stations.
* IAW DoDI 3020-42 this position has been locally, or command designated as Mission Essential (ME); needed to ensure the continued operation of mission essential functions of the activity. (Cont'd) * (Cont'd) Mission Essential personnel may be required to report for duty at normal times when the base is closed or delayed reporting and remain on duty during phased or early release.

* May be assigned Government Purchase Card (GPC) duties.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance.
* Must pass an initial pre-employment medical examination, periodic medical examinations, required physical fitness/physical agility tests, meet established hearing standards and discern colors, contrast, and depth. The incumbent must immediately report to his supervisor any significant medical threshold shifts in health status and/or medication requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS:

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, to include the Individual Occupational Requirements (IOR) for the GS-0081, Fire Protection and Prevention Series.
