Duties

  • Organizes all aspects of integrated prevention program planning, assessment, evaluation, and continuous monitoring of prevention activities for the installation.
  • Leads integrated prevention data collection, analysis, and presentation through regular updates to the Community Action Board (CAB), Community Action Team (CAT ), unit leadership and relevant forums as requested.
  • Applies knowledge and understanding of research-based primary prevention strategies and programs to inform the installation prevention process.
  • Accomplishes professional development and maintains proficiency through interaction with technical and professional societies, associations, academia, symposia, contractors, research and development organizations, and participation in formal training programs.

  • This position is Centrally Managed; PCS is authorized and will be paid by the career field.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
  • A Master's degree or higher in a behavioral, social science, or related discipline appropriate to this position is preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience within primary prevention is highly desired.
  • Must obtain, maintain and renew credentialing as required by a credentialing board identified by the DoD and specified in policy.

  • Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
  • This position requires a high degree of discretion in relation to sensitive information of which the incumbent is aware.
  • Position requires flexibility and adaptability to implement DAF's frequent program and policy modifications, which are often made quickly in response to evolving environments, mission sets and risk/protective factors.
  • Incumbent must meet screening/suitability criteria listed in DoD and OAF guidance.
  • Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
  • Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.

Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Professional and Scientific Positions, GS-0101 Series. BASIC REQUIREMENT OR INDIVIDUAL OCCUPATIONAL REQUIREMENT:
Successfully completed a bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

A copy of your transcripts is required. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.

In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: SPECIALIZED

EXPERIENCE:

Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-11, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes:
1) Applying a comprehensive and professional knowledge of laws, regulations, and policies as well as behavioral, social science and/or public health practices principles and theories relating to the prevention of violence and promotion of help-seeking and resilience.
2) Using knowledge of a wide range of delivery systems relating to violence prevention and the multiple uses of such systems.
3) Providing knowledge of DAF culture, military family dynamics, related professional fields, and a thorough knowledge of the DAF community and the unique challenges that DAF families face, or equivalent knowledge.
4) Applying knowledge of quantitative techniques and methods used to develop, adapt, modify, and apply models to resolve problems or define and clarify alternative solutions to inform prevention efforts; and the ability to formulate and conduct assessments and evaluations to implement and monitor primary prevention plans.
