Position
Air Force Civilian Service (AFCS) is looking for an Aerospace Ground Equipment Mechanic (WG-5378-10) to join the 97th Maintenance Group at Altus AFB, Oklahoma. Responsibilities include troubleshooting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining powered and non‑powered Aerospace Ground Equipment (AGE).
CompensationHourly Wage Range: $35.11 - $40.96

- Vacation: starts at 13 days and can grow to 26 days based on length of employment

- Subject to random drug testing
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Clearance
- Valid driver’s license; may need to operate a 2½‑ton truck and tow ground equipment
- Required to qualify for a restricted area badge; may support aircraft as a flight line driver
- Physical fitness: able to climb, bend, stoop, crawl, stand for prolonged periods; lift up to 20 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds with assistance or mechanical devices
- Must be of legal work age
- Perform preventative maintenance on ground power and non‑powered support systems; check fuel, lubricants, coolant, battery water, pumps, batteries, belts, spark plugs, engine performance, generator bearings, oil, and temperature indicators
- Assist journeymen with major maintenance on ground support equipment; perform minor maintenance on power sources, components, and associated equipment
- Conduct periodic routine and special inspections of all scheduled equipment
- Follow safety rules and procedures; maintain a safe and clean work environment
- Maintain and control tools as established by the Air Force and organization
- Apply knowledge of powered/non‑powered aerospace ground support equipment, electricity principles, solid‑state circuitry, and safety regulations
- Understand internal combustion diesel, gasoline, and gas turbine engines
- Read, interpret, and use wiring diagrams, schematic drawings, technical orders, publications, and similar guides
- Use hand and power tools, instruments, test equipment, electrical meters, hydraulic knockout tools, hammer drills, valve spring compressors, micrometers
