The Automotive / Lift Truck Technician assists the Shop Manager with all tasks related to rolling stock and equipment within the assigned region. This role is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, maintaining, and documenting service on automobiles, lift trucks, and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.
The responsibilities include:
- Examine automobiles, lift trucks, and other equipment to diagnose damage or malfunctions.
- Plan and perform repairs and maintenance using technical manuals, charts, and professional experience.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical, fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, lubrication, and related systems.
- Perform metal fabrication as needed to support equipment repair and maintenance.
- Track and perform routine preventive maintenance on all rolling stock and equipment in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and PCCA Warehouse Division standards.
- Ensure equipment is maintained to maximize safety, reliability, and service life.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, maintenance, and inspections performed.
- Assist the Regional Shop Supervisor in maintaining appropriate inventories of repair parts and supplies.
- Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and secure warehouse environment.
- Perform all work in compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
- Follow OSHA regulations, including Safety Data Sheet (SDS) standards, and demonstrate safety-conscious behavior at all times.
- Travel to and from all plants within the assigned region as required.
- Travel to plants in other Warehouse Division regions may be required to support overall operational needs, such as:
Liberal and Clearwater, KS.
Qualifications:
Education (Preferred):
High School Diploma or GED, Vocational/Technical School, Associate's Degree
Experience:
Preferred: 6–12 years of direct experience in a similar automotive or lift truck technician role
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Strong working knowledge of automotive and lift truck systems, including electrical, fuel, hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
- Knowledge of basic shop procedures and the ability to perform work safely and efficiently
- Satisfactory completion of a counterbalance lift truck training course in compliance with OSHA standards
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and service documentation
- Ability to fabricate or modify metal components as needed for repairs
- Strong organizational and documentation skills
Tools & Equipment:
Tools provided by the company, and no personal tools are required.

Skills:
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
Certificates, Licenses & Training:
- Must possess a valid state driver's license or have the ability to obtain one before employment
- May be required to attend training schools as needed
- Any additional training not listed as a prerequisite will be provided by the PCCA Warehouse Division
