Duties
* Inspects, maintains, modifies, troubleshoots, repairs, overhauls, and tests a variety of major aircraft fuel systems, their assemblies, and components.
* Prepares and operates fuel pressurization test stands to perform fuel tank and component integrity checks.
* Uses and maintains hand and power tools, test equipment and other powered/ non-powered equipment required to accomplish duties.
* Accomplishes record keeping, manual and/or automated.
* Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area. Requirements Conditions of employment

* Direct Deposit:

* Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance. Access is required to information or area classified up to secret.
* Depending on the type of position (competitive/excepted) you are selected for, you will be required to serve a 1-year probationary period OR 2-year trial period.
* Upon completion of your probationary/trial period, your employment will be terminated unless you receive certification, in writing, that your continued employment advances the public interest.
* This position has been designated by the Air Force as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program. Employee must pass initial and periodic short notice drug testing.
* Illegal drug use by employees in sensitive positions presents a clear threat to the mission of the Air Force, national security, and public safety.
* The work requires the employee to drive a motor vehicle. An appropriate, valid driver's license is required for the position.
* May be required to work overtime, rotating shifts, uncommon tours, weekends, etc. Temporary duty may be required. Performs other duties as required.
* SHALL be qualified to enter the smallest fuel tank/cell, that permit personnel entry on all MDS assigned.
* SHALL be required to obtain /maintain certification as a local Unit Rescue Team member upon assignment to the 97 MXS/MXMCF Fuels Flight. This includes the requirement to maintain respirator qualifications at ALL times.
* The physical requirements determined by the manager are: the work requires moderate to strenuous effort. Sits, stands, lifts equipment weighing 20 pounds and occasionally items weighing up to 60 pounds with help from lifting equipment/other worker.
* Pushes heavy jacks and test stands, stoops, bends, stretches, and works in cramped, tiring, and uncomfortable positions.
* Subject to high intensity and higher frequency sounds that impose a physical burden. Will be qualified to enter the smallest fuel tank/cell that permit personnel entry on all mds assigned. Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-8200, Fluid Systems Maintenance Group, Aircraft Pneudraulic Systems Mechanic. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying.
Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is:

1. Comprehensive knowledge of principles governing the behavior of fluids and basic electrical principles to repair and test various complex fuel system components, subsystems and systems that are designed for proportional input variable forces or condition, control rates of change and have multiple stage function, and automatic reset or adjustment circuits on assigned aircraft, such as regulating and vacuum relief valves, refuel valves, engine feed valves, cross-feed valves, de-fuel valves, vent valves, boost pumps, transfer pumps, fuel filter manifold valve, anti-vapor systems, and fuel tank safety systems…
