of Responsibility
Working under the direct supervision of the Manufacturing Manager and the assigned lead, the Machine Operator B is responsible for cutting, laying out, punching, bending, drilling, and stamping materials as detailed on the shop drawings.
Essential Duties- Determine the sequence of operation by reading shop drawings, specifications and work orders.
- Cut, lay out, punch, bend, drill or stamp materials with minimal operator defects.
- Change or replace tooling and/or consumables on the machines as needed.
- Use proper setting technique of machines to avoid damage.
- Read and understand tape measures to 1/16 inch.
- Follow assigned work instructions to prepare items for processing.
- Perform simple maintenance diagnosis of machines.
- Use overhead cranes, gantries, forklifts, and combi lifts to move materials.
- Keep assigned work area clean and organized at all times and assist in keeping other areas clean.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by maintaining quality, safety, organization, and cleanliness.
- Communicate and work well with others, contributing to team effort.
- Maintain regular and on‑time attendance.
- Work in your scheduled shift.
- Meet all additional duties as assigned.
- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent. - Experience:
Minimum 1 year of recent experience in a welding environment is desired.
- Ability to read, understand, and communicate effectively in the English language.
- Demonstrated ability to read blueprints, use a tape measure, and comprehend safety rules, operating and procedural manuals.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
- Perform physical activities requiring substantial use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, tugging, stooping, bending, twisting, crawling, and material handling.
- Manual dexterity and ability to pick, pinch, and work with fingers; repetitive wrist and hand motions; arm‑hand steadiness; safety‑mindful attitude.
- Use ladders, manlifts, forklifts, and overhead cranes safely.
- Work in an open environment for long shifts (including weekends) exposed to extreme temperatures and standing for entire shifts.
- Maintain concentration on tasks for long periods and observe and receive information from all relevant sources.
- Visual acuity for inspecting small defects, parts, and operating machines; use of measurement devices and assembly/fabrication at close distances.
