The General Laborer will assist with mechanical work, welding, equipment upkeep, shop maintenance, striping and traffic control. They have experience in these areas.
Supervisory Responsibilities- Assist with new employee training
- Assist with constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Assist with time management of the team to complete tasks promptly
- Perform routine inspection and maintenance on vehicles such as checking oil, water, and tires
- Operate graders for leveling and tractors to load materials such as dirt and rocks
- Operate backhoe and front-end loaders as required
- Operate forklifts and dump trucks to transport trash and materials
- Operate various equipment for general site preparation, landscaping, snow removal, and related assignments
- Operate 40‑ton trash trucks including hydraulic equipment such as tailgates, hoppers, and packers as required
- Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies; promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices
- Inspect large equipment before and after use to ensure they are working properly
- Load and unload cargo and move them to the appropriate storage area
- Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
- Perform regular maintenance and minor repairs when necessary
- Proficient written and oral communication skills
- Strong computer skills, able to read, write, and comprehend written instructional documents
- Ability to function well in a high‑paced and, at times, stressful environment
- Mathematical ability: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, ratios, percent, graphs, geometry, algebra
- Experience in welding
- Mechanical knowledge
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least two years of related experience
- Understanding of job site safety procedures
- Familiarity with preventive maintenance on a variety of construction class vehicles
- Willingness to work a variety of shifts with 2 weeks' notice
- Willingness to be outside in a variety of extreme weather conditions
- Prolonged periods of sitting and operating equipment
- Prolonged periods of standing, bending, reaching, and working with hands
- Prolonged periods of exposure to loud noises
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at times
- Ability to stand, walk, and reach with arms and hands as necessary
- Ability to hear and see to position and safety requirement levels
- Occasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicals
- Must be able to pass required federal, state, or local government background investigation
- Valid state driver's license & Class A CDL
