Hourly Rate $17.52

This is a Part‑Time pool position, assignments are available during the academic year. Applications are considered throughout the academic year and reviewed based on departmental needs. In order to maintain SACSCOC compliance, you are required to upload a copy of your transcripts for all degrees conferred.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Requires a flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include working days, evenings and/or weekends.

May require travel to our main campus in Alvin and/or to various offsite locations, including local high schools in Alvin, Danbury, Manvel and Pearland and to Texas Department of Criminal Justice facilities in Richmond, Rosharon or Lake Jackson.

Requires the provision of official transcripts and/or certifications within 30 days of hire.

Applicants with academic credentials from non‑U.S. accredited institutions are required to have their coursework evaluated in terms of U.S. equivalency. All international credential evaluations must be conducted by one of the companies affiliated with the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services, Inc. (NACES) in order to be considered for a faculty position. Applicants bear the responsibility of requesting, paying associated fees, and obtaining an original transcript evaluation for submission to the Office of Human Resources.

The lab assistant will provide supervision and coordination in the lab setting for students in the Neurodiagnostic Technology Program. The instructor will assist NDT faculty during lab, competencies/capstones, evaluations, and open lab.

  • Assist with instruction and supervision of a diverse population of students in the laboratory at various times and locations.
  • Assess students’ performance through a range of measurement activities and keeps them informed of their progress in a timely manner.
  • Possess a commitment to student engagement, student success, and instructional excellence.
  • Demonstrate effective communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Assist NDT Faculty in preparing and utilizing a course syllabus and assessments for each lab course using guidelines established by the institution and the accreditation company.
  • Prepare and maintain lab supplies and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment including EEG machines, photic lamps, amplifiers, head boxes, electrodes, digital storage archive system, etc.
  • Organize lab supplies and create an inventory spreadsheet to maintain adequate lab supplies and request additional supplies as needed.
  • Maintain current knowledge of effective teaching methodologies and utilize a variety of instructional delivery methods, classroom media, and educational resources.
  • Maintain current knowledge of all EEG software systems and ancillary equipment in the lab.
  • Assist in the recruitment and retention of students by participating in health fairs, career fairs, college nights, program tours, civic functions and additional applicable events hosted by ACC.
  • Advise students in academic matters or refer students to appropriate resources.
  • Utilize technology to facilitate learning and to access data, maintain records, generate reports, and communicate with others.
