Campus Behavioral Specialist (104‑35) – Job

Primary Purpose
  • Provide students with behavioral challenges with learning activities and experiences designed to teach appropriate classroom behaviors.
  • Instruction may occur in small groups and/or individually, on a case‑by‑case basis (as identified by RtI, 504, or ARD committees).
  • Provide in‑class support to classroom teachers via modeling of appropriate strategies to increase teacher capacity while minimizing classroom disruptions and maximizing student success.
  • Provide professional development to instructional staff related to positive behavior supports and restorative discipline.
Qualifications Education/Certification
  • Bachelor's degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of general education curriculum requirements
  • Knowledge of the District Code of Conduct and special provisions as they apply to students in 504 and special education
  • Knowledge of social skills curriculum
  • Advanced knowledge of behavioral intervention strategies for working with students with problem behaviors, including restorative discipline practices
  • Evidence of ability to directly intervene with students who have behavioral challenges and provide instruction to both student and classroom teacher regarding effective behavioral interventions
  • Ability to provide assistance and support to teachers via modeling of appropriate behavioral strategies
  • Develop individualized behavioral intervention plans
  • Ability to gather, maintain, and utilize behavioral data when making recommendations
  • Ability to effectively utilize district‑approved crisis intervention strategies (including CPI certification)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a classroom teacher with a documented history of successful classroom management experience
  • Experience in working with behavioral programs preferred
