Overview

Location and program details are part of the CIS/Southeast Harris County and Brazoria County network. This listing describes the Premier Academy Program Director role with part-time hours.

Summary

Implements, coordinates, manages, and reports the day-to-day operations of the after-school program activities in the assigned Premier Academy. Responsible for student recruitment, retention, and reporting. Works closely with the Director, center staff, school staff, parents/families, contractors, and the students to achieve program goals and objectives. Performs other duties as assigned. This is a part-time position, 30 hours per week. Monday - Friday 12:30 pm - 6:30 pm.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure program activities promote the health, safety, and general well-being of participants and provide high-quality educational development opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and positive role modeling to participants.
  • Develop and plan relevant program curricula in accordance with Premier Academy standards.
  • Coordinate the implementation of community-based activities with hands-on site management.
  • Monitor and evaluate program achievement against target goals; recommend modifications and report findings to the Director.
  • Supervise and manage staff of activity coordinators, including training, coaching, and evaluation.
  • Review and adhere to school district and campus rules, policies, procedures, including crisis plans and reporting procedures for abuse.
  • Establish and maintain positive communications with parents, including parent meetings and written announcements as needed.
  • Maintain inventory of program equipment and supplies; recommend repairs or purchases within budget.
  • Confidentially maintain participant information, attendance, and academic progress; prepare accurate statistical reports by deadlines.
  • Participate in PA project meetings, team projects, training, and events; provide direct service to students with educational and enrichment activities.
  • May lead, guide, and train staff, tutors, and volunteers; participate in recruiting volunteers and tutors.
  • Ensure intake and dismissal procedures are adhered to.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or three years of equivalent experience in childcare, education, or a human service field.
  • Willingness to maintain CIS policies and standards.
  • Strong commitment to CIS mission and the value of after-school programs for student success.
  • Flexible, self-starter, and team player with mature judgment to handle confidential matters professionally.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) and the ability to work with diverse staff, ISD administrators, and teachers.
  • Ability to develop, engage, and manage a team; organize and implement multi-faceted workloads; analyze problems and resolve conflicts.
  • Proficiency with computers and MS Office (Excel and Word).
  • Ability to work with diverse populations of children and parents in a school setting; work with minimal supervision and as part of a team.
  • Means of self-transportation and proof of meeting Texas auto requirements (registration, driver’s license, insurance).
  • Willingness to attend evening and weekend events.
Work Environment

Work is performed in an office and school campus environment. May require sitting at a computer and on the phone for extended periods. Requires flexible hours to meet deadlines and may involve some travel within the district. Occasional lifting of equipment up to 30 pounds is required.

Travel

Valid Texas driver’s license and insurable with a good driving record are required. Ability to operate a vehicle to attend meetings, workshops, and trainings; attend scheduled staff meetings.

Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift and carry 5 to 20 pounds; occasionally 40 to 70 pounds; items include boxes, supplies, etc.
  • Frequently push/pull to open/close drawers and move items; occasionally perform light furniture movement.
  • Occasionally bend, kneel, or twist; reach above, at, or below shoulder height.
  • Occasionally climb stairs or incline surfaces.
  • Ability to travel between work locations; possess a valid Driver’s License and proof of insurance.
  • Flexibility to work some evenings and weekends.
