Role Description
The TDCJ Welding Instructor is a full-time, on-site role based in Rosharon/Alvin, TX, responsible for delivering welding instruction to learners within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) program. The instructor designs and delivers lessons that align with established curriculum standards, demonstrating proper welding techniques, safety practices, and equipment usage. Daily responsibilities include preparing instructional materials, supervising hands‑on welding labs, assessing student performance, and maintaining accurate records of progress and attendance.
The role involves collaborating with college staff and TDCJ personnel to uphold institutional guidelines, ensure a safe learning environment, and support students in developing job‑ready welding skills and industry awareness. The instructor also participates in program evaluation and continuous improvement activities to keep course content current with industry practices.
- Candidates should possess strong welding skills, including proficiency in structural welding, pipe welding, and FCAW processes.
