INEOS Oligomers – Financial Analyst – Chocolate Bayou, Alvin, Texas – Closing date:

Organizational Context

INEOS Oligomers operates large merchant facilities for Linear Alpha Olefins (LAO) in Canada and Belgium, and has recently invested $500million in a world‑scale LAO & PAO production unit at the INEOS Olefins & Polymers site in Chocolate Bayou, Alvin, Texas. The company’s portfolio includes comonomers for polyethylene, feedstock for lubricants and surfactants, and base stock for drilling fluids among others.

Purpose of the Position

As the OCB Site Controller’s analyst, the Financial Analyst will record and review financial transactions, assist with forecasting, and prepare reports for the Site Controller, Site Leadership and Oligomers business management. The role will support monthly, quarterly and year‑end financial close deadlines, work closely with site management, and participate in both internal and external audits. The analyst will also promote Responsible Care principles across the site, contributing to sustainability, safety and quality.

Responsibilities
  • Support the monthly financial close process, ensuring accurate, timely recording of accruals, overhead costs, utilities, third‑party bill‑outs and variable costs.
  • Post transactions and monitor operational activity related to capital projects.
  • Consolidate and analyze the annual site fixed and variable cost budget.
  • Record month‑end inventory, perform mass balance of production and consumption, and support quarterly physical inventory counts and reconciliations of process materials.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports summarizing plant variable and fixed cost performance.
  • Perform variance and trend analysis on operating costs, capital spending and working capital investment, presenting clear interpretations to management.
  • Create, manage and close capital project structures in SAP; create assets and process project settlements.
  • Provide support for government requests and tax reporting packages.
  • Interpret financial transactions, events and INEOS policies for business users to aid economic decisions.
  • Maintain and support INEOS internal controls, reviewing process documents and ensuring delegation of authority.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and follow up on unresolved balance differences.
  • Gather documentation for external audit requests and assist with annual physical inventory observations.
  • Prepare monthly sales and use‑tax reports and support annual compliance reporting.
  • Support and enforce Oligomers and CB behavioural and process safety practices.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field with 5+ years of relevant experience; CPA or MBA preferred.
  • Industry

    Experience:

    Prior financial experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Technical

    Skills:

    Advanced Microsoft Office, especially Excel; SAP FI/CO/MM super‑user knowledge (other modules a plus); familiarity with Microsoft Access; SAP user reporting expertise desired.
  • Analytical

    Skills:

    Strong analytical and problem‑solving ability.
  • Organizational

    Skills:

    Excellent time‑management and ability to manage multiple tasks under strict deadlines.

Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit and perform tasks requiring repetitive use of hands.
  • Occasional walking and standing; may need to lift up to 20lb occasionally, 10lb frequently, or constant negligible force.
  • Visual acuity to read written documents and computer screens; hearing to perceive normal speaking levels.
  • Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make discriminations in sound.
Work Environment
