The Chocolate Bayou Works site is located in southeastern Texas about 40 miles south of Houston and consists of two olefin units that produce approximately 3 bn pounds/year of ethylene, 2 polypropylene units that produce approximately 800 m pounds/year of polypropylene, storage and transfer facilities at Stratton Ridge. The site also provides knowledge sharing support and functional guidance through relationships with the PE/PP facilities at Battleground and the Hobbs gas processing facility in New Mexico, with headquarters located in League City, TX.

Mechanical Maintenance Technicians are tasked daily to ensure safe and reliable operation of site process plants and reduce operating costs by executing assigned work according to plan and schedule, noting any plan deviations, and providing input on improvement opportunities.

• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on machines, including cleaning, lubricating, diagnostic tests, performance checking, and determining if major repairs are required.
• Execute machinery repairs and assemblies using hoists and moving equipment to replace defective parts; position pieces for assembly.
• Apply knowledge of load-bearing capabilities, blueprints, and technical instructions while performing tasks.

• Replace defective parts or adjust clearances and alignments of moving parts.
• Align machines using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Connect power units or steam piping, test units for mechanical operation.
• Repair, lubricate, assemble and install equipment using hand and power tools.
• Position steel beams to support bedplates using blueprints and schematic drawings.
• Signal crane operators to lower assembly units and align to centerline.
• Insert shims, adjust tension on nuts and bolts, or position parts using hand tools and measuring instruments.
• Move machinery with hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Attach moving parts and subassemblies to assembly units.
• Assemble machines, bolt, weld, rivet, or otherwise fasten to foundation or structures.
• Lay out mounting holes, drill holes with power drill, bolt parts such as side plates, jaw plates, journals.
• Level bedplates and establish centerlines using straightedge, levels, and transit.
• Dismantle machines with hammers, wrenches, crowbars, etc.
• Shrink-fit bushings, sleeves, rings, liners, gears, and wheels using portable gas heating equipment.
• Dismantle machinery for shipment and perform installation and maintenance at new site.
• Construct foundations using hand tools and building materials such as wood, cement, and steel.
• Operate engine lathe to grind, file, and turn parts to dimensional specifications.

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of a two-year industrial maintenance technology degree, or
• Successful completion of an approved industrial maintenance technology program from an accredited institution/college.

• Minimum of three (3) years directly related experience as a mechanical maintenance technician (millwright) in petrochemical, refinery, pulp/paper, or related industry.

• Must be able to acquire a TWIC card.
• Proficient in repairing industrial pumps, turbines, compressors, and gearboxes.
