Position: Certified Medication Aide (CMA) Double Weekends - Laurel Court (22759)

Available Shift: Double Weekends - Saturdays & Sundays from 6:00am-10:00pm (shift differential $1.00 from 2:00pm-10:00pm)

Job Summary: The overall purpose of the Certified Medication Aide position is to administer oral and topical medications to patients/residents, perform routine daily tasks, under physician orders and licensed nurse supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations.

Qualifications
  • State certification as a Nursing Assistant mandatory.
  • State approved medication administration certification (where required).
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English.
Essential Functions
  • Administers medications as ordered by a physician under a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the five rights of medication administration.
  • May take and record vital signs as required.
  • Records administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately.
  • Observes for and reports any reactions or side effects to the licensed nurse or appropriate shift.
  • Administers PRN medications following regulations and facility policy.
  • Documents reason for and response to PRN medications in a timely manner.
  • May dispense narcotics under supervision, accounting them per policy.
  • Secures medication carts/medication rooms per regulations.
  • Attends facility education in‑services.
  • May make observation rounds under the licensed nurse.
  • May supervise nursing assistants/orderlies as assigned.
  • Ensures medication rooms, carts, and refrigerators remain clean and organized.
  • Removes expired medications for destruction per policy.
  • Attends Quality Assurance meetings per request.
  • Functions as a team leader/role model.
  • Reviews Abuse Prevention clinical policies and enforces them.
  • Assures patient/resident safety.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
