PRIMARY
PURPOSE:
To assist and supervise accounting personnel. Ensure that all accounts payable procedures are processed efficiently and accurately, and supervise all general ledger accounting procedures in an accurate and timely manner. Coordinate and communicate with other departments as necessary.
Minimum
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting OR Bachelor’s in management, finance, or business with at least 24 hours of accounting coursework.
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Knowledge of school district accounting in general ledger and accounts payable; proficiency with data processing systems; strong computer skills; ability to use all office machines; excellent communication, public relations, and teamwork skills.

- Provide assistance in accounts payable and general ledger accounting.
- Assist ESC and school personnel with accounting questions.
- Recommend changes for improving data processing systems.
- Inform relevant personnel of procedure changes.
- Update and maintain documentation of general ledger functions and systems.
- Supervise and assist accounting personnel with data entry.
- Oversee preparation and posting of journal entries; review and approve to ensure accuracy.
- Assist in preparing annual financial audit schedules, work papers, and supporting documents.
- Supervise vendor maintenance and general ledger accounting.
- Oversee online weekly and monthly check requisitions.
- Train and cross‑train accounting clerks.
- Assist the Director of Accounting in evaluating staff.
- Provide training to district personnel in finance.
- Respond to vendor inquiries regarding accounts payable.
- Participate in workshops or seminars to enhance professional knowledge.
- Consult with the Director of Accounting on decision making.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Develop and maintain department manuals and training materials.
- Maintain customer‑service interactions with stakeholders.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal statutes and the Educator Code of Ethics.
Supervise and evaluate the performance of accounting personnel in accordance with state laws, Board policy, and administrative regulation.
