Tax Accountant

Location: Amarillo, TX (or surrounding area)

We are seeking a Tax Staff Accountant to join a growing public accounting team. This role will support tax preparation, compliance, and client advisory services for individuals and businesses. The firm is open to candidates at varying experience levels, from entry-level accountants to experienced CPAs, with compensation aligned accordingly.

• Prepare and review federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations
• Assist with tax planning and compliance strategies
• Conduct tax research and stay current on tax laws and regulations
• Communicate with clients to gather financial information and provide updates
• Support year-end tax processes and deadlines
• Collaborate with senior accountants and partners on client engagements
• Maintain accurate documentation and work papers

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field (required)
• CPA license or CPA-track candidates preferred (not required for all levels)
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and tax concepts
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong communication and client service skills

• Entry-Level (0–2 years, non-CPA): $40,000 – $45,000
• Mid-Level (3–5 years, non-CPA): $60,000 – $65,000
• Senior-Level (5+ years, non-CPA): $80,000 – $90,000
• CPA (3–5 years): $80,000 – $90,000
• CPA (5+ years): $95,000 – $100,000
