Role DescriptionThe Court Clerk is a full-time, on-site role located in Amarillo, TX. This position is responsible for maintaining court records, preparing and processing legal documents, and ensuring accurate data entry into case management systems. The Court Clerk assists judges, attorneys, and court staff during proceedings by managing case files, scheduling hearings, and providing procedural information within established guidelines. Daily tasks include interacting with the public, answering inquiries about court procedures, accepting and receipting filings and payments, and organizing documents for upcoming court sessions.
The role also involves coordinating with other departments, following legal and administrative policies, and maintaining confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Knowledge of law and court proceedings, with an understanding of basic legal terminology and court processes.
- Familiarity with courts and the structure of the judicial system, including trial and administrative procedures.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with judges, attorneys, staff, and the public.
- Excellent organization skills, including attention to detail, time management, and accurate recordkeeping.
- Proficiency with office software, case management systems, and standard office equipment.
- Ability to interpret and follow policies, regulations, and procedural guidelines.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in legal studies, criminal justice, or public administration is beneficial.
- Experience in a court, legal office, or public sector administrative environment is preferred.
