Position SummaryThe Civil Foreman is a hands-on field leader responsible for managing crews performing earthwork, grading, underground utilities, and site development work. This role is accountable for daily production, safety, quality, crew coordination, and achieving project goals in the field.
Key Responsibilities Crew Leadership & Execution- Lead and supervise field crews performing grading, excavation, and utility installation.
- Establish daily work plans and communicate expectations.
- Ensure crews remain productive, organized, and aligned with project goals.
- Hold team members accountable for safety, quality, and production.
- Oversee installation of:
- Water systems
- Sewer systems
- Storm drainage
- Conduit and utility infrastructure
- Ensure proper trenching, bedding, pipe placement, and backfill operations.
- Verify layout, elevations, slopes, and tie-ins.
- Verify grades, elevations, slopes, and compaction requirements.
- Conduct daily safety meetings and Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs).
- Identify and resolve safety issues immediately.
- Coordinate inspections and maintain compliance with project specifications.
- Communicate daily with the Superintendent regarding project progress and needs.
- Coordinate labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractors.
- Report delays, shortages, and field issues proactively.
- Minimum 3+ years of leadership experience in civil construction.
- Strong background in:
- Earthwork
- Grading
- Underground utility installation
- Ability to read plans, grades, and specifications.
- Experience managing crews and coordinating equipment.
- Valid driver's license.
- Experience on large commercial, infrastructure, or site development projects.
- Familiarity with GPS grading systems.
- OSHA 30 certification (or willingness to obtain).
