A Level II Trauma Center in Amarillo Texas is seeking a Locums Trauma & Acute Care Surgery Physician to provide ongoing coverage in ahigh-volume, well-supported surgical program. This is an excellent opportunity to work in a collaborative environment with a diverse trauma and acute care surgery caseload.
Position Highlights- Facility:495-bed acute care hospital and Level II Trauma Center
- Ongoing locumopportunity
- Shift-based coverage in a collaborative multidisciplinary practice
The program provides comprehensive trauma and acute care surgeryservices with annual volumes including:
- Approximately1,618 trauma activations
- Over 1,000trauma admissions
- Nearly 500 acutecare surgery operative cases annually
- In-house traumacoverage
- Acute Care Surgery (ACS) coverage
- Backup call coverage as scheduled
- 24
Hour shiftsincluding call - 30-minutecallback response time when on backup call
- Evaluate andmanage trauma and emergency general surgery patients
- Performoperative and non-operative management of traumatic injuries
- Provide acutecare surgery consultations and procedures
- Participate intrauma activations and multidisciplinary patient care
- Collaborate withemergency medicine physicians, intensivists, hospitalists, and surgicalstaff
- Document patient encounters accurately using the facility's electronic medical record
- Board Certifiedor Board Eligible in General Surgery
- Fellowshiptraining in Trauma Surgery, Surgical Critical Care, or Acute Care Surgerypreferred
- Active Texas medical license or ability to obtain licensure
- Current ATLScertification
- Demonstratedtrauma and acute care surgery experience
- Strong clinical decision-making skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
