Overview
PRIMARY
PURPOSE:
Assume certain principal responsibilities as assigned and serve in the absence of the principal as the senior administrative officer on the campus.
- Minimum Education/Certification
:
Master's Degree;
Valid teaching certificate;
Texas principal or other appropriate Texas administrative certificate. Preferred:
Advanced Education Leadership (AEL) certification, Instructional Leadership Training (ILT), or Instructional Leadership Development (ILD);
Preferred:
Certified T-TESS Appraiser - Special Knowledge/
Skills:
Demonstrates instructional leadership skills;
Ability to do numerical analysis;
Strong communications, public relations and interpersonal skills;
Strong verbal and written communication; able to present information;
Thorough understanding of school operations - Work
Conditions:
Tools/Equipment Used:
Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals;
Posture:
Frequent sitting and standing; occasional bending/stooping, pushing, pulling, and twisting;
Motion:
Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of a mouse; reaching;
Lifting:
Occasional lifting and carrying (less than 40 pounds); occasional physical restraint of students to control behavior;
Environment:
May work prolonged or irregular hours; work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather), exposure to noise; occasional district wide and statewide travel;
Mental Demands:
Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress;
Regular Attendance is an essential function - Minimum Experience: Three years of campus administrative experience preferred;
Three years’ successful experience as a classroom teacher as evidenced by performance appraisals
- Perform all assistant principal duties as listed on the AISD Assistant Principal job description.
- Provide in-depth instructional or management assistance to the principal.
- Assume responsibilities for the initial preparation of the master schedule.
- Provide and evaluate special programs and support services.
- Plan and evaluate special programs and support services.
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Abide by State and Federal laws, District policies, campus expectations and Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned.
