This is an exciting time to work for Amarillo College! We are seeking our next Adjunct Faculty - English who will be all-in on our mission and who will be responsible for delivering high-quality instruction in assigned English courses and supporting student learning through effective teaching methods. This includes facilitating classroom, online, or tech-supported learning environments; preparing course materials; evaluating student performance;
and maintaining subject matter expertise. The role also involves engaging in departmental activities and promoting a positive, student-centered academic experience.
This position is filled on an as needed basis, contingent upon institutional needs.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:
Required:
Master's degree in English or a Master's degree in another field with a minimum of eighteen (18) graduate semester credit hours in one or more of the qualifying disciplines listed below (a maximum of 9 hours in Bilingual Education may be counted toward this requirement):
Bilingual Education, Creative Writing, English Grammar, Linguistics, Classics, Technical Writing, Applied Linguistics, Literature, Rhetoric and Composition, Comparative Literature, Technical Communication.
EXPERIENCE:

Previous teaching experience at the post-secondary level.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
* Deliver engaging and effective instruction for assigned course(s) through various modalities including in-person, online, hybrid, or dual-credit formats.
* Contribute to curriculum development, course revisions, and program evaluation initiatives.
* Design, implement, and assess instructional strategies aligned with measurable student learning outcomes.
* Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and grades.
* Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to students.
* Participate in student academic support, such as mentoring, research guidance, or project supervision.
* Prepare and present well-organized instructional content in accordance with approved course syllabi and academic standards.
* Attend required departmental and institutional meetings, briefings, and trainings.
* Complete all administrative responsibilities and evaluations within established timelines.
* Perform other work-related duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
* Excellent command of the English language, both written and spoken.
* Proficient in learner-centered and high-impact instructional methodologies.
* Competency in using instructional technologies, multimedia tools, and computer applications.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic academic environment.
* Demonstrated professionalism in communication, classroom management, and conflict resolution.

* Availability to teach flexible schedules, including day, evening, off-campus, online, and technology-supported classes.
Salary:
Amarillo College Pay Grades, please review the TEACHING OVERLOAD COMPENSATION and ADJUNCT FACULTY COMPENSATION chart to view the salary pay scale. This is based on your highest level of education.
Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to travel between offices and buildings, and requires the ability to lift, carry, push, pull and/or maneuver office supplies as needed.

Must be willing to work a flexible schedule (days, nights, weekends, holidays, and varying events as necessary.) Timely and regular attendance for all employees is required to ensure adequate staffing, positive employee morale, and to meet expected productivity standards throughout the organization.
Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, copy machines, and filing cabinets.
