Job Description

Primary

Purpose:

Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the career and technical education subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society and to develop in each student an understanding of the skills necessary for a specific occupation.

Qualifications
  • Minimum

    Education/Certification:

    Bachelor’s degree, associate’s degree, or high school diploma/GED and equivalent full-time wage‑earning experience required for certification.
  • Texas CTE Certificate and Endorsements: Valid Texas career and technical education certificate with required license, endorsements, and training for subject and level assigned. Possible certificates include: agriculture, technology education, industrial technology, industrial arts, trade and industrial education with appropriate work approval, or eligible for a District Teaching Permit with related training and work experience.
  • Special Knowledge/

    Skills:

    • Knowledge of career and technical education subject assigned (Welding I, II)
    • General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
    • Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
    • Proficient in the effective use of tools and technology used in the occupational field
    • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
    • Technology skills related to classroom presentation and record‑keeping
    • Strong knowledge of Internet and web‑related technology
    • Ability to support students with computer set‑up, navigation, and technology issues
  • Minimum Experience: AWS certification preferred.
Work Conditions
  • Tools/Equipment Used: Personal computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment; equipment required to demonstrate and perform tasks related to the welding industry.
  • Posture: Prolonged standing; frequent kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting.
  • Motion: Frequent walking.
  • Lifting: Regular moderate lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs; occasional lifting over 50 lbs; may lift and move textbooks, classroom equipment, and other tools and equipment in the classroom.
  • Environment: May work inside and outside; on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; around machinery with moving parts; may be exposed to chemical hazards or biohazards; regular exposure to noise.
  • Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress; ability to respond to needs in a timely manner in a high‑stress environment; work prolonged or irregular hours.

Major Responsibilities and Duties Program Responsibilities
  • Manage Welding Technology facility and classroom space.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations related to the occupational area assigned.
  • Develop outlets for work‑based learning experiences.
  • Develop and maintain a network of advisors to keep the curriculum fresh and relevant, and to stay current in industry trends.
  • Take an active role in recruitment of new students in the program.
Instructional Strategies
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and reflect accommodations for differences in individual students.
  • Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies that meet the needs of students. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
Student Growth and Development
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal methods.
