Job Description PRIMARY PURPOSEManages student learning in accordance with the goals and directives of the school and the division
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum Education /Certification
Minimum of 45 college hours or
Bachelor's degree from accredited university preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate preferred
Special Knowledge/SkillsKnowledge of instructional practices in a school setting
Ability to follow lesson a plan
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Conflict resolution skills
Discipline management skills
Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds
Technology skills preferred
Work ConditionsTools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting and standing; bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including keyboarding; reaching
Lifting: Lifting and carrying (less than 50 pounds)
Environment: Must be able to work with frequent interruptions and maintain professional demeanor under stress; must wear professional attire
Minimum Experience: High school diploma
Prior employment experience in a school setting preferred
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES- Maintain and respect confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Maintain discipline and classroom control that foster a safe and positive environment for all students and staff in accordance with school and county policies.
- Ensure the adequate supervision to assure health, welfare, and safety of all students.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Report to office upon arrival at school; check mailbox of absent teacher for materials requiring immediate attention; request clarification of school rules and procedures, if necessary.
- Report all student injuries, accidents, illnesses, and discipline problems to the appropriate authority immediately or as soon as is reasonably possible.
- Implement lesson plans, while ensuring the integrity of academic time and in a manner which motivates students to learn and participate.
- Organize students for effective instruction.
- Dismiss all students from the classroom before leaving the building.
- Complete a Substitute Teacher Report Form for the regular classroom teacher.
- Collect and place students’ papers in regular teacher’s desk.
- Return instructional materials, equipment, and keys to proper place.
- Determine if his/her services will be required for the next school day.
- Comply with and support school and division regulations and policies.
- Model non-discriminatory practices in all activities; follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers including the Texas Educator Code of Ethics.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by building administrator(s) in accordance with school/division policies and practices.
Position Type: Part-Time
Salary: $107 Per Day
