Job Summary

Provides overall vision and regional leadership for the development, implementation, evaluation, and interpretation of Extension educational programs in the North Region, targeting both traditional and nontraditional audiences in Agriculture and Natural Resources and 4‑H Youth Development.

Responsibilities
  • Provides support and coaching to agents, builds relationships among agents and specialists, and serves as liaison for programmatic opportunities.
  • Facilitates collaboration within program areas to design and coordinate training for agents, assists DEA with agent recruitment and selection, and acts as a team player with North Regional Team.
  • Provides non‑supervisory input on performance of Extension staff and assists in evaluation of county and regional programs.
  • Leads program development and planning processes; sets expectations, guides agents in annual program plans, reviews and approves plans, and ensures alignment with program objectives.
  • Supports 4‑H Youth Development with club enrollment, project variety, volunteer development, and participation in educational activities and competitive events.
  • Supports Disaster, Assessment, and Recovery (DAR) Unit activities as applicable.
  • Maintains compliance with affirmative action and civil rights guidelines related to programming functions.
  • Facilitates relationships with Texas A&M Agri Life, state and federal agencies, universities, industry and commodity groups, and coordinates with DEA to engage research and extension personnel.
Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in a related field and five years of related experience.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with varied groups; excellent oral and written communication skills; demonstrated team‑leadership experience.
  • Knowledge of commonly used farm equipment, tools, and machinery.
  • Valid Class C driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  • Preferred:
    Doctorate in a related field and ten years of related experience.
