The TTU SVM seeks to serve the veterinary educational and veterinary service needs of rural and regional communities, and to provide access to affordable high-class education. The TTU SVM is co-located in Amarillo, Texas, with the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) regional campus. The TTU SVM enjoys state-of-the-art facilities and maintains populations of domestic animals, and the region is home to large numbers of horses, production animals, and wildlife, providing further opportunities for field-based scholarship.

The TTU SVM utilizes a community-based clinical education model that partners with practicing veterinarians throughout Texas and surrounding regions. Students complete clinical year rotations in established veterinary practices, providing exposure to real-world veterinary medicine in rural and regional communities.

Faculty members work collaboratively with partner practitioners to mentor students, guide clinical learning experiences, and ensure students develop strong clinical reasoning, practical technical skills, and professional decision-making abilities. This model allows faculty to remain closely connected to veterinary practice while supporting a practice-ready educational approach that reflects the realities of modern food animal medicine and rural veterinary service.

The School of Veterinary Medicine (SVM) at Texas Tech University (TTU) invites applications for a full-time, 12-month, tenure-track or professor of practice faculty position in Veterinary Pharmacology and/or Veterinary Therapeutics at the rank of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor, with rank and appointment type commensurate with qualifications and experience.

The SVM is committed to educating practice-ready veterinarians who serve rural and regional communities. Faculty in veterinary pharmacology and therapeutics play a critical role in preparing students for careers in all aspects of veterinary medicine, but particularly in livestock production medicine, rural mixed-animal practice, food animal veterinary service, agricultural consulting, and regional small animal practice.
