Service Technician II – (GE, MHI, NeMaicon, Vestas, Siemens)

Responsibilities
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance on wind turbines, applying skills in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
  • Interpret fault reports, maintain power generation reports, service logs in computer databases, and monitor turbine performance.
  • Assist with high‑voltage system maintenance and repair.
  • Support mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repairs at sites.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork, including work order cards, checklists, AWPs, etc.
  • Recognize wind turbine error codes and properly report issues.
  • Replace major turbine components such as generators and gearboxes.
  • Adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Demonstrate advanced troubleshooting and repair skills for wind turbines.
  • Establish and maintain general safety, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED;
    Associate’s Degree is a bonus, but not required.
  • 1+ year’s experience as a Wind Turbine Technician.
  • Valid driver’s license (non‑CDL or CDL) with a clean driving record.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and follow instructions (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision given proper instructions.
  • Ability to solve problems involving at least one concrete variable in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to pass a physical exam and drug/alcohol screening.
  • Must be capable of lifting and/or moving up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be physically fit enough to free climb 300 ft multiple times a day while wearing 25+ lbs of climbing gear and work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Must be capable of rescuing teammates anywhere in the tower in the event of an emergency.
  • Employees climbing a wind turbine must use a Personal Fall Arrest System and may not exceed the system’s maximum weight capacity of 309 lbs, including the individual, tooling, uniform, and PPE. Hence, personnel must not exceed a maximum personal body weight of 260 lbs.
