What You'll Do

As a High Explosives (HE) Manufacturing Engineer, the candidate will be the Subject Matter Expert on HE component manufacturing processes. This individual will be part of a team that is responsible for developing, maintaining, and improving processes and procedures for the manufacturing of HE components and the associated surveillance and gauging of HE components. This individual will serve as a liaison between the Design Agencies and Pantex for the development of processes and components and will also work with technicians and programmers in the work areas to incorporate their input into the process.

Additionally, this position may have a role in the installation of additive manufacturing equipment and the development of the associated processes.

Job Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering/science discipline
  • OR a Master's Degree in engineering/science discipline

Job Requirements
  • Knowledge of procedure writing and a general understanding of the Unreviewed Safety Question (USQ) Process
  • The ability to understand high explosive manufacturing processes to support new production and surveillance activities
  • Experience working with the Design Agencies and familiarity with common documentation requirements with the Design Agencies
  • Experience with additive manufacturing processes and equipment
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or a related field from ABET-accredited program in the United States or designated equivalents thru ABET Mutual Recognition Agreements (MRA)
  • Bachelor's Degree in science
  • A minimum GPA is preferred for up to four years post-graduation, confirmed by transcript at the time of offer. Beyond four years from graduation, relevant experience will supersede GPA in hiring considerations
  • Bachelor's Degree with a minimum 3.0/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • Master's Degree with a minimum 3.3/4.0 cumulative GPA
  • PhD with a minimum 3.5/4.0 cumulative GPA

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.

Position may require entry into Materials Access Areas (MAA) and participation in the Human Reliability Program (HRP). If HRP is required, candidate must complete a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, pursuant to 10 CFR 709. Medical requirements may apply.
