TITLE: MEP Manager, Mechanical

Location:
Amarillo, TX - Ability to work within a 75 Mile radius

Position Summary

The MEP Manager, Mechanical leads and executes commissioning of data center critical systems including CRAHs, Chillers, Air Handlers, Coolers, and other equipment. This person reviews client design packages, monitors and analyzes FAT and First of Kind equipment Level 1‑5 tests, and develops O&M documentation for data center electrical equipment. The Data Center Commissioning Engineer is essential to the company’s success and growth by ensuring testing is completed and client data centers operate at maximum efficiency.

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Manage projects, plans, gather specifications, and execute assignments in a multidisciplinary commissioning role for large facility projects.
  • Adhere to a thorough quality management/QC process and procedures.
  • Participate in daily commissioning activity meetings, including equipment pre‑start‑up and start‑up procedures; develop standard operating procedures (SOPs) and methods of procedures (MOPs); maintain comprehensive commissioning documentation.
  • Prepare commissioning test procedures and reports; develop and maintain commissioning logs, equipment checklists, and tools to track projects.
  • Write comprehensive reports with recommendations for optimizing building operations, functional checklists, deficiency lists, and equipment operation and maintenance manuals.
  • Review design criteria, specifications, drawings, equipment submittals, and other commissioning documentation.
  • Perform integrated system testing, load bank testing, and compile all testing results.
  • Develop and administer functional tests for systems such as electrical distribution, UPS, standby generators, etc.
  • Assemble systems, prepare commission plans, and follow company QC processes.
  • Lead and manage external resources; schedule and direct periodic commissioning meetings; attend construction and coordination meetings as required.
  • Interface with clients, contractors, equipment vendors, and owners’ agents; execute project assignments; collaborate with engineering and design teams.
  • Verify test report results; assist with field troubleshooting of commissioned equipment.
  • Field experience with Power Quality Analyzers, Power Disturbance Analyzers, Data Loggers, and related testing equipment.
  • Willingness to travel up to 100% to job locations.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Qualifications

Education / Experience (Desired)
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in engineering or comparable experience.
  • 10 years of experience in the engineering field.
  • Experience in complex facilities or mission‑critical projects is a big plus.
  • Previous Data Center / Mission Critical experience is required.
  • Electrical equipment testing in a critical facilities environment.
  • Experience with IEEE/ASHRAE procedures and protocols is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of systems design for various projects.
  • Computer skills:
    Microsoft Word, Excel, and Microsoft Project.
  • No certificates or licenses required.

No supervisory responsibilities with this position.

Physical Demands
  • Regularly required to sit; standing and walking also required.
  • Moderate noise levels in the work environment.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb, or balance.
  • Specific vision requirements: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Perform any additional duties assigned by a supervisor.
